The Order of the Secret Monitor is a fraternal Order founded upon the Biblical story of the lifelong friendship between David and Jonathan.
Their friendship provides the foundation for the principles that continue to guide the Order — friendship, loyalty and practical support for one another.
The Order has had a presence in India for more than 125 years. The Grand Conclave in India was constituted on 14 December 2013, with M. Wy. Bro. Madhavan Chellappa installed as its first Most Worthy Grand Supreme Ruler.
The District Grand Conclave of Northern India continues this tradition by bringing together Conclaves and members throughout the Northern States.
From its long history in India to the establishment of the Grand Conclave in India, the Order continues to grow while preserving its traditions.

The ceremonies of the Order unfold through three Degrees, each reflecting an important aspect of its traditions and teachings.
The Induction Ceremony introduces the member to the story of David and Jonathan and the principles of friendship, loyalty and support.
The Princes Degree develops the themes of the Order and places further emphasis on communication, loyalty and support.
The Third Degree incorporates the Installation and Commissioning of the Supreme Ruler and the responsibilities associated with that office.
The Order is guided by its Grand and District leadership in preserving its traditions and strengthening its fellowship.
